Extremely tthin & smooth, will not stick to the tissue while being placed OR removed. Has a uniform diameter (not braided) Strand has maximum flexibility Provides excellent security with snug and flattened knots. No ‘memory’ and fraying so the suture won't curl up or become worn at edges due to tissue rubbing against it.

- Chromic gut absorbable sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic surgery, but not for use in cardiovascular or neurological surgery and microsurgery
- Chromic gut absorbable sterile surgical sutures are packaged in a solution of 87% isopropanol, 12% water and 1% triethanolamine. Chromic gut sutures are treated with chromic salt solution
- When Plain, Chromic and Mild Chromic gut absorbable sutures are placed in tissue, a moderate tissue inflammation occurs characteristic of foreign body response to a substance
- This is followed by a gradual loss of tensile strength and suture mass, as the enzymatic process dissolves the surgical gut until it is completely absorbed
